Virtual Visits

Telemedicine

Televisits bring you the quality of care you expect but allows you to do it right from your home or work.  We understand that it is difficult for you to take off work/school and hope bringing you Televisits will alleviate some of that stress for certain types of visits.

What are Televisits?

These are “skype” like visits done right from your phone or computer.  Televisit is a virtual one-on-one office visit through a secure app. ‘Virtual’ (Tele) meaning that it takes place over an internet connection through a computer or cell phone. ‘Visit’ meaning that you will see a provider in real time to discuss your health. The provider will be able to assess your symptoms and issues and make the necessary recommendations, including prescribing medications and scheduling follow up appointments.

How do Televisits work?

Make sure we have an up to date email on file as well as the cell number. Once the appointment is scheduled you will receive an email about a week prior to the appointment with the link and instructions to click on at the time of the visit.  You will receive a text with the link 1-5 days prior to the visit.  No username or password is needed.  You do not need to log in to the patient portal. Click right on the link sent to you at the time of your appt. Then, wait for the provider to enter the virtual room.  These appointments are usually scheduled for first thing in the morning or at lunchtime to minimize the wait time for all that need to be on the call. As with all appointments, if you are late or do not show up to your televisit you will be charged a no show fee.
********If your appt is by Televisit with a provider please make sure you receive the link 1-2 days before the visit. If you have not received the link, please call the office. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE TIME OF YOUR APPT TO CALL. We send out the link by text at least the day before if not sooner.

Options for Established Patients:

Chronic Care Televisits are follow up appointments between in person office visits.  They can offer:

**Medication Management for things like ADHD, Anxiety, Asthma
**Follow ups on Labs, Diagnostic Imaging or other results/tests
**Constipation follow ups 1 month after starting a plan

Other things to know:

If you are not in the state of Maryland when doing the telehealth appointment, the provider may ask you to do the visit as a phone consult based on the state’s laws at the time.  Phone consults may not be covered by your insurance!

Televisits are typically reimbursed by insurance companies but copays and/or deductibles would apply just like in person office visits.

The patient must be up to date on their annual well exam to be eligible for televisits.

For Asthma Medication Management please have all inhalers, aerochambers, etc. available to demonstrate.  If you think the child is actively wheezing or having a flare up then this should be scheduled as an in person office visit.

Make sure you have a camera on your computer as not all laptops or computers have cameras but they have the spot at the top that looks like a camera!
